The MotorCo MapGuide to the Tour de France is a GPS enabled guide to the cycling events starting in July of 2016. The app captures every stage, giving the user the location to, and relative distance from, the beginning and end of every stage.
Each stage point comes with a description of the stage and a live Google Map giving the user directions directly to the stage point of interest.
With the app, one can follow the riders and stages throughout the tour and throughout France.
Note: parts of the event take place in Switzerland and Andorra.
You have all of the events, descriptions, schedule and location on your mobile device.
The tour starts in Mont-Saint-Michel on July 2 and ends in Paris on July 24th, and there are 21 stages in all. Much of the race takes place in the mountains and French country side.
There are two rest days, and two time trials.
About the race:
The Tour de France is an annual multiple stage bicycle race primarily held in France, while also occasionally making passes through nearby countries. The race was first organized in 1903 to increase paper sales for the magazine L'Auto; it is currently run by the Amaury Sport Organisation. The race has been held annually since its first edition in 1903 except when it was stopped for the two World Wars. As the Tour gained prominence and popularity the race was lengthened and its reach began to extend around the globe. Participation expanded from a primarily French field, as riders from all over the world began to participate in the race each year. The Tour is a UCI World Tour event, which means that the teams that compete in the race are mostly UCI WorldTeams, with the exception of the teams that the organizers invite.
The app has no ads, no pop-ups, no registration and no sharing of the user's location.
